The trappings are begun, now that the body is nicely rounded
The daisies are started

9 daisies ring the trappings, a coat of primer is applied to aid in sanding.
Sanded daisy.
Next the body will be sanded, detailed ( "Skylar" carved onto the
blanket) the butterflies (3) carved.
Once the body and legs are sanded, primed, and re-sanded, then the legs are
added to the body.
At that point the head is detailed, then added...and the final shaping at the
joints is completed.
PAINTING BEGINS--
Colors are to be blues, pinks, purples, yellows, on a white
unicorn with gold leafed horn, horse shoes, & "Skylar" on the
saddle blanket, finished off with reins, and stirrups, on an oval base.
Oil base white, shaded with tawny a shade matched in the hair tail is applied.
These enamels take 24 hour to dry and 2 weeks to cure. Painting and detailing
including the Butterflies will take all week. Expected competition about 9/6/03.
Ready to ship about 9/20/03.

base coats are applied, inside of mouth & nostrils are painted when horse
is upside down.

Gold leafing the horn.
Painting on the horse is complete, the hardware, reins & stirrups are
fitted.
The base is stained to match, with low relief carved flowers as they will be
stepped on by riders.

Base is "white washed" lightened to match paint more closely
Lastly the butterflies will be carved! Nearly Finished!
The butterflyies are interchangeable and may be placed at any angle
